Hi, I'm Michael! I'm the founder of HeARTbreak Studios. I am a lifelong lover of art wanting to provide a way to make people feel better in my community. I've worked at a meditation studio, taken some yogic teacher training courses, and have obsessed over art my entire life. I started this venture after my mother's sickness reminded me life is all too short and some family and romantic ties were cut. So, I left the corporate world and decided to explore the combination artwork creation with my trust in the powers of mindfulness practices to create a new kind of artistic "feel good" experience. For me, meditation and thinking mindfully was easier implemented in my life when I practiced them in motion (rather than solely in silence). Although I love to practice sitting meditations, creating art was really when I naturally achieved a meditative state and a space of healing.
Our experiences at HeARTbreak Studios are designed to take the daunting aspects of both a blank canvas and meditating in stillness melt away in our process-oriented focus. This rooting in the senses, movements and present moment naturally makes us feel good. We guide people through quieting the inner critic, allowing the act of creating to become the meditation. Although we use painting, the awareness and anchorage we aim to facilitate extends into our daily mindset.
All humans feel heartbreak, stress, distress or more challenging emotions for many different reasons. We can feel this ache on a personal, community or even global level. We want to provide a fun outlet to channel any type of internal emotion, perfect for catharsis or creative flow.
Artwork creation is our access point. It is our way of quieting the thinking mind. It is our way of being.
We are primarily a traveling service; we partner with nearby locations and attend private and corporate sessions. We also operate out of a shared workspace in Marina Del Rey, CA. Please reach out with any comments or questions!
